Keeping your PC Trouble-Free

Today, computer users are mostly concerned about two things when working online: security and virus-protection. Here are some useful tips on how to keep your PC out of trouble without spending a lot of money.

Virus Protection

Let's start with virus protection. According to PC Magazine ninety percent of all PC technical problems are caused by viruses sent to e-mail accounts. The remaining 10 percent is spread through downloads, spy-ware and of course visiting unknown sites. In order to be protected you must have antivirus software installed, regularly updated with new virus definitions and a weekly schedule for a full system scan. This will prevent your PC from getting infected.

Apply Regular Updates to your Operating System

Most PCs are sold with a pre-installed version of Windows. This is not usually the final version of the operation system, and minor updates and patches are continually being produced. It is important that you apply any updates to your version of Windows regularly to ensure that you have the most up-to-date system.

Install a Firewall

A firewall is a security system that acts as a protective barrier between a PC and the outside world. In addition to having up-do-date virus protection on your PC, you should also consider installing a firewall (Router) to prevent outside individuals from obtaining access to your PC without your knowledge.
